New C‑BLUES Project Video Showcases the Importance of Blue Carbon Ecosystems

We are excited to share the new C‑BLUES project introduction video, highlighting how the project is advancing knowledge and understanding of Blue Carbon Ecosystems (BCEs) and their role in addressing climate change.

Blue carbon ecosystems—including seagrass meadows, salt marshes, and mangroves—provide a wide range of benefits for people and nature. These coastal habitats capture and store carbon, help protect shorelines from erosion and storms, and support rich biodiversity.

As a Horizon Europe project, C‑BLUES brings together scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders to improve how blue carbon ecosystems are understood, measured, and managed. Through innovative research, monitoring technologies, and collaboration across disciplines, the project works to reduce uncertainties in blue carbon assessments and strengthen the integration of coastal ecosystems into climate policy and action.

The video provides an introduction to the project's objectives and demonstrates how C‑BLUES contributes to the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of blue carbon ecosystems worldwide.

By improving our understanding of blue carbon ecosystems, C‑BLUES is helping to build the scientific foundation needed to support effective climate action and resilient coastal communities.
