C-BLUES Co-Convenes National Conference on Kelp Forest Restoration in Northern Norway

In November 2024, C-BLUES was among the co-conveners of a Norwegian national conference titled What needs to be done to bring back the kelp forest in Northern Norway?  The backdrop was a Parliamentary request to the Government for preparing a national plan of restoration of the Norwegian kelp forests; in north grazed down by sea urchins, in south threatened by eutrophication. The conference gathered about 80 participants from public administration, industry, environmental organizations, and the research community discussing what can be done to restore kelp forests especially in Northern Norway, where the causes of kelp forest problems differ from those in Southern Norway. The report from the conference is now published and made available by the Norwegian Blue Forests Network: What needs to be done to bring back the kelp forest in Northern Norway?  The report  is in Norwegian with a two-pages English summary. Also, earlier this year the webinar European macroalgae management: The case of the Norwegian kelp forests discussed the matters entirely in English. You can find both a recording and the presentations from that webinar in the link provided.
